Aside from Sean Connery’s Rolex Submariner Reference 6538 worn in Dr. No, there is perhaps no other movie watch more iconic than Steve McQueen’s own Heuer Moncao worn in the 1971 film Le Mans. That same watch will head to auction in December, and expect it to command a serious price. The Heuer Monaco reference 1133 was actually worn on the set of the film and can be seen prominently on McQueen’s wrist as he’s zipping up his race suit. The back is engraved “To Haig Le Mans 1970” since it was given to McQueen’s personal auto mechanic after filming ended. The square-cased chronograph’s blue face, white subdials, and red hands and markers stand out against the black perforated rally strap. The watch appears to be in remarkably good condition and should make the owner very proud to wear the very watch worn by the King of Cool, himself. It will be auctioned by Phillips and Bacs & Russo on December 12, 2020 at the Racing Pulse watch auction in New York.
