We’re not going to pretend like we fully understand the difficulties international astronauts have to deal with–particularly when it comes to using their hands while they’re suited up. For the record, we’ve been snowboarding and skiing and plenty of times, so we can only imagine that spacesuit gloves have even less mobility and use cases. That’s where the French company Comex and this glove developed for the European Space Agency comes in. For years, if not decades, astronauts have lamented the stiff, bulky and otherwise impossible to manipulate aspects of the standard glove, but this concept keeps the hands safe, the fingers flexible and, most importantly, integrates a top of the hand control panel for use with drones. We don’t know precisely how traditional drones are going to fit into astronaut duties, but that’s really NASA’s purview when it comes down to it.
