300-Different-Bottles-of-Rare-Japanese-Whisky-new

Not far outside the the mountains of Nagano, Japan, you’ll find the resort town of Karuizawa, which used to be the home to the distillery of one of the most sought-after whiskies in the world. Karuizawa Whisky was only produced until the year 2000, when the distillery closed, but there’s an incredible auction starting next month with the chance for you to own up to 300 different bottles of rare Japanese whisky from Karuizawa. The collection up for auction by UK-based Whisky Auctioneer took over a decade to amass and includes hits like a 1963 50 Year Old, 1960, and 1964 48 Year Old with the entire collection expected to rake in over $600,000 at auction. Just for reference purposes, the last batches of whisky the distillery produced before it closed—which are still close to two decades old to be fair—generally fetch around $500 per bottle. If you’re going to bid on any of the bottles in this auction when it starts on April 5, be prepared to bust out the checkbook. And once you get it, let us know how it is.
